What’s On Tonight…

Can you believe it, it’s been 100 days since President Obama took office and love him or hate him, time certainly has flown by. Tonight he will plead his case for you to like him in prime time, the eleventh of his prime time press conferences since taking office on January 20th.

He has held more press conferences in his first 100 days in office then every president next to President Bill Clinton and President Harry Truman.

That’s not the only thing on the tube tonight though, check out a new episode of LOST as more answers are untangled and immediately following that it’s the new show The Unusuals, which really is very unusual.

Of course there is the obligatory American Idol fix that everyone needs.

Who knows when all of this will start/end because our friend President Obama likes to talk and his press conferences have been known to extend past the usual 1 hour time limit…although I think when you’re the President you get as much time as you want.

First Friday in Downtown

Start your weekend and the month off right with good times and great friends at the First Friday Downtown celebration. The first Friday of every month features great jazz music, amazing shopping at local vendors and of course some drinking at one of our great restaurants or pubs.

This after house event starts at 5p and who knows maybe we’ll keep it going all night long. The fun won’t start until you get there, so make sure you’re there early and stay nice and late. We’re counting on you!!

FIRST FRIDAYS in Downtown Bloomington. Come downtown after work and enjoy.

Tax night…

Uncle Sam is calling and his voice is getting louder and louder as tax day is here. Time to pay the piper and there’s only one way to do that, file your taxes. Whether you’re doing it online or are going to battle the long lines at the Post Office, it’s do or die on April 15th.

Uncle Sam is relentless in his pursuit of his money and he’s already spent a lot of it, so this year he needs your return!! Hopefully you’ll be getting money back, but either way it’s time to bite the bullet and file those bad boys.

If you’re looking for a place to help you file your taxes you can find one here. If you’ve already filled out the paperwork and just procrastinated on mailing them out, find the nearest post office to you here.

I know, I know, this isn’t really nightlife, but hey, with some post offices open until midnight, technically it can be considered nightlife!!

Jazz enthusiasts rejoice as the ISU Jazz Festival is happening all day long on Saturday. This year’s guest performer is saxophonist Eric Marienthal.

Past guests have included John Fedchock, Byron Stripling, Denis DiBlasio, Benny Golson, Bobby Shew, John Scofield, Brandford Marsalis, Count Basie, and Maynard Ferguson. The 2009 guest artist will be saxophone virtuoso *Eric Marienthal* who?s illustrious career includes work with The Chick Corea Electric Band, The GRP All-Star Big Band, Gordon Goodwin?s Big Phat Band, The Yellowjackets and numerous projects of his own.
